Haysi, VA- Charley “Brooke” Woods, age 15 of Black Pine Drive, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015. Born March 28, 2000 in Summerset Kentucky, Brooke was a freshman at Haysi High School where she was a varsity cheerleader for the HHS Tiger Football Team, a member of the HHS JV Softball team, a member of Who’s Who Among Americas High School Students, a member of the HHS Beta Club and was being inducted into the HHS Key Club next month. She attended Pound River Church of the Brethren and Bartlick Freewill Church. She was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Thomas and Loucinda Hawkins, Jack and Opal Mullins, RD and Vadna Viers and Bland and Pearl Woods.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Angie and Russell Stallard of Haysi, VA; her father and stepmother, Kent and Rachel Woods of Haysi, VA; a brother, Dalton Woods of Haysi, VA; stepbrothers, Payton Ratliff and Gauge Ratliff of Haysi, VA; maternal grandparents, David and Tincy Hawkins of Clintwood, VA; paternal grandparents, Palmer and Mary Sue Woods of Haysi, VA; step-grandparents, Benny and Shirley Stallard of Haysi, VA and Junior and Kitty Deel of Haysi, VA; Uncle and Aunt, Keith and Melissa Woods of Haysi, VA; double first cousin, Keilah Woods of Haysi, VA and other very special aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Sandlick Elementary School Gymnasium with Bill Rose and Rex Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Fred T. Stallard Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Honorary pallbearers will be the HHS Varsity Football Cheerleaders and the HHS Varsity and JV Softball Teams.
