Dante, VA- Mary Magglean “Peno” Deel, age 68, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at her home, born October 24, 1946 in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Cowan and Oma Woods Branham. She was a graduate of Hubbard Wayne Cosmetology College, a cafeteria cook for the Dickenson County School System for 37 years and a member of Ramsey Ridge Old Regular Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her uncle, Garmon Woods.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon Deel, a son, Matthew and wife Sherry Deel of Dante and a daughter, Lydia Michelle and husband, Charles Lawson of Big Stone Gap, two granddaughters, Amber and husband Jeremy Mullins and Samantha Deel, sisters, Virginia Bertis Mullins of Gate City, and Colleen (Denny) Rose of Breaks, brothers, Thelmar (Nancy) Branham, Herbert “Poley” (Mildred) Branham, Stearl (Ann) Branham all of Clinchco, Carter Branham of Haysi and Kelster (Carolyn) Deel of Westland, MI and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Haysi Funeral Home with Jerry Overstreet, Carson Wright, James Tackett, Jimmy Amos, Charles Nitchie, Jimmy Dale Sanders, Danny Belcher and Toy Looney officiating. Burial will follow in Lonnie Deel Family Cemetery, Lickcreek, VA. Brothers and brothers-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
