Glenna Edith ""Granny""  Owens (Deel)
Abingdon, VA- Glenna Edith Deel Owens “Granny”, age 82 was called home to glory, November 9, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Lindel McCoy and Flora Velva Combs Deel. She was a homemaker, a former member of Splashdam Freewill Baptsit Church and member of Spoon Gap Freewill Baptist Church. She loved gardening, canning, beading, crocheting and cooking big meals for those she loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Bonnie and husband, Earl and brother-in-law, Lloyd Duty.
Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Ferl, a son, Eldon Duff (Debra) Owens, two daughters, Chandra Nyle (Ronnie) Lester and Natalie Kyle (David) Cooper, three sisters, Helen (Clayton) Johnson, Mary Lou Duty and Patsy Myerline (Norman) Messer, three brothers, Homer Ward Deel, Reedy Jarel (Ilene) Deel and Clifton Thurles (Wanda) Deel, precious grandchildren, Jerran and wife Katie, Derek and wife Missy, Kulena and husband Steven, Laquisha and husband David, Dustin and friend Anne and Sha’Tara, step-grandsons, David and wife Kellie, Waylon and wife Nikki and Johnathon, great-grandchildren, Taylor Brooke, Breanna, Jaidyn, Nyla, Piper, Chanson, Colton, Kyiah, Journee and Khloe, step great-grandchildren, Sydney, Alex and Nathan and several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Haysi Funeral Home with Pastor Herbert Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Temple Hill Cemetery, Castlewood, VA. Grandsons and family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a song service from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
