Haysi, VA- JoAnne Deel, age 65 of Greenbrier Road, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late James and Vertie Triplett Owens. She was a Grundy High School graduate, a homemaker and had retired as a secretary from United Coal. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alene Deel and brothers, James Owens Jr., Jack Owens and Fairly Owens.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Ralph Deel, a son, Billy Nathan Deel, a grandson, Jakob Aaron Deel, sisters, Pauline Deel, Nadine (Clyde) Conaway and Nell (Bobby) Boyd all of Haysi and Elizabeth (William) Dale of Bristol and a brother, Blaine (Bethel) Owens of Haysi.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with Mark Justice, Aven Viers and Terry O’quinn officiating. Burial will follow in Parrot Deel Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. with Darrell Thacker officiating.
