THELMA BOYD
Prater, VA- Thelma Boyd, age 70, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Born August 25, 1945 in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Harlis and Zettie Woods. She had worked in housekeeping and was an aid to elderly people for years, she was a member of Coleman’s Chapel Church for 34 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Justice.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Boyd, a daughter, Audra (Ed) Cortez of Berea, KY and a son, Michael (Angie) Boyd of Prater, grandchildren, Phantasa Boyd and Tanner Boyd both of Lebanon, Kaylee Cortez and Joel Cortez both of Berea, KY, Charlie Boyd of Prater, Bryan Taylor of St. Paul and a great-grandchild, Jaiden Taylor of St. Paul, three sisters, Lou Jean (Garnie) Deel and Ruth (Powell) Chambers both of Prater and Cleo Vandyke of Richlands, four brothers, Linton Woods, Lloyd (Geraldine) Woods, Harold (Ledna) Woods and Bruce (JoAnne) Woods all of Prater.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Coleman’s Chapel Church with Darrell Thacker and Russell Lockhart officiating. Burial will follow in F.M.F. Boyd Cemetery, Big Fox Creek, VA. Pallbearers will be grandchildren and friends.
