Obituary for William Ray Perrigan

William Ray  Perrigan
Clinchco, VA- William Ray Perrigan, age 84 of Backbone Ridge, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 at his home. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Rufus and Susie Turner Perrigan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. He worked for Clinchfield Coal Company for 25 years and was a UMWA member of Local #7170. He was an avid fisherman, camper and loved his grandchildren. He attended Old Regular Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Emma Harlowe, Ruth Harrison, Agnes and Violet Perrigan, a brother, Clarence Perrigan and mother and father-in-law, Fred and Versa Mullins.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean, two daughters, Vicki (Robert “Lizard) Baker and Rita (Darrell) Anderson both of Clinchco, a brother, Hershel (Vernell) Perrigan of Clinchco, a sister, Ann (Stearl) Branham of Clintwood, grandchildren, Jonathan Mullins, Shanelle Mullins, Brian Turner and April (Brian) Woodyard and 7 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to add a special thanks to Kimberly Yates.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with A.L. Yates officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Thursday at Rufus Perrigan Cemetery, Clinchco, VA with Willie Cantrell officiating. VFW Post #8979 will conduct Military rites.Pallbearers will be Malique Johnson, Dakota and Dalton Yates, Dennis and Donnie Harrison, Robert Mullins, Kyle Fleming and Danny Harlowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Woods, Luther Rose, Herbert (Pole) Branham, Stearl Branham, George Yates, Steve Viers, Duster Fleming and Mark Mullins. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to service at 7:00. Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
