Obituary for Vivian Jewell Owens (Fuller)

Vivian Jewell  Owens (Fuller)
Haysi, VA- Vivian Jewell Fuller Owens, age 87, left this life journey of August 23, 2016 while residing at Mountain View Regional Hospital’s long term care unit. She was born June 26, 1929 in Haysi, VA to the late Bevley and Sophia Raines. After graduating from Haysi High School she and her husband, Coolidge, moved to Tennessee where they raised their three children. In 1989 she retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Jellico Community Hospital in Jellico, TN and returned to Haysi and to care for her mother and the family’s home place. Vivian was very involved in many social and civic activities and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Most of all she was known for her love and dedication to the care and restoration of the Russell Fork River. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Coolidge Owens, her brothers, William Jennings Bryan Fuller, Neal Woodrow Fuller, Franklin Fuller and sisters, Nora Fuller Anglin and Roselle Fuller Smith.
Survivors include her three children, daughters, Patricia Owens Ward of LaFollette, TN and Tammy Lynn Owens of Birchleaf and a son, Bo Mark Steven Owens of Madison, WI, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, three brothers and their wives, Bevley Clinton Fuller and Bonnie of Winston Salem, NC, Emory Garl Fuller and Gail of Sterling, VA and Douglas M Fuller and Sherry of Matthews, NC.
The family would like to express immense gratitude and acknowledge the dedication and professionalism of the nurses, cna’s and all support staff at the Mountain View Regional Hospital’s long term care unit. They loved our mother as if she was their own and created a meaningful and peaceful home for her during the last part of her journey.
Visitation will be Monday, August 29 from 5:00-7:00 at Haysi Funeral Home, funeral service at 7:00 with Pastor David Cummings of Sandlick Presbyterian Church officiating. On Tuesday, August 30 family and friends will meet at Cross-Smith Funeral Home in LaFollette, TN for a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Bakers Forge Cemetery.
