Obituary for June Deel (Looney)

June  Deel (Looney)
Vansant, VA- June Deel, age 74, went home to be with the Lord, Monday September 19, 2016. Born September 1, 1942 in Vansant. She was a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Ollie (Deel) Looney. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County. She was a Christain and member of Looney’s United Methodist Church since 1974. June was a loving wife, mother and grand-mother. She had a particular love of children and found great joy in sitting with and taking care of her grandchildren as well as the children of friends and relatives throughout her life. June was also an accomplished quilter who always had one at hand as a graduation or wedding gift. Her skills will be missed by her family and friends. June also enjoyed taking care of her flower gardens and indoor plants and was thrilled with each new bloom.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Tim Deel and three sisters, Mary Yates, Phyllis Williams and Barbara Looney. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of over 59 years, Eugene Earl Deel of Vansant, her children, Connie Vanover and husband, Alex and Gary Deel both of Vansant and Susan Hight and husband Hartford of Snellville, GA, three grandsons, Nick Vanover of London, United Kingdom, Aaron (Katie) Deel of Roanoke and Wade Vanover of Los Angeles, CA, two granddaughters, Stephanie Deel of Grundy and Emily Hight of Snellville, GA, two sisters, Jeanette Sue Yates and Mellissa (Sammy) Owens both of Vansant, three brothers, Harold Gene (Evelyn) Looney and Teddy Russell (Annette) Looney both of Vansant and Gordon Stevie (Sharon) Looney of Abingdon. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Creighton Smith officiating with burial following in George W. Deel Cemetery in Greenbrier. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to funeral service. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to caregivers, especially Tammy Fletcher and Trish Deel.
