Obituary for Henry Clarence Looney

Henry  Clarence  Looney
Breaks, VA – It is with much sadness that we are writing this obituary of a loving husband and a wonderful dad, brother, and papaw.
Henry C. Looney who recently passed away from an extended illness, was born in Buchanan County, VA on July 18, 1929 to the late Hobert and Mae Looney, and departed this world on September 20, 2016, which meant he blessed the lives of many people for 87 years. He lived most of his life in Breaks, VA with his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bessie Lester Looney of Breaks, VA. He and Bessie were blessed with a wonderful family: two sons, Erdil Jack Looney and wife Margaret of Breaks, Alan Looney and wife Wendy of Breaks, and one daughter, Angela Marie Compton of Lebanon, VA, four grandchildren, Michelle and husband Nathan Matney, Seth Looney, Cassie Compton, Kayla and husband Cameron Fields, and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Karly Matney, and Gray Fields.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Blaine Looney, Theodore Looney, and Basil Looney. He is survived by three other siblings; Chloe Conaway, Roy Looney, and Toy Looney all of Breaks.
He was a long time member of Little Jocie Old Regular Baptist Church. Papaw will always be missed and loved by us all. Written by the family.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at Little Jocie Church with Elders Toy Looney, Jimmy Dale Sanders, Ricky Mullins, A.B. Thacker, Jerry Overstreet, Teddy Honaker, and Jackie Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA with American Legion Post #164 of Grundy, VA conducting military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be Cameron Fields, Seth Looney, Dwayne Looney, Lance Looney, Timothy Looney, Randy Looney, Ricky Looney, Carlos O’quinn, William Looney, and Nathan Matney. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22 at the church, where a service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
