Lura Imogene Sutherland
Bee, VA – Lura Imogene Sutherland, age 89, went home to be with Lord Friday, October 21, 2016 at Russell County Medical Center. Born on June 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late George and Stella Owens. She was a member of Sullivan Branch Holiness Church at Bee and was a believer in the Pentecostal Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chant Sutherland, son, Richard Sutherland, two sisters, Beulah Lockhart and Ruth Asbery, and a brother, Elmer Owens.
Survivors include her son, Randy (Patsy) Sutherland of Bee, a daughter-in-law, Sue (late Richard) Sutherland of Lebanon, VA, three grandchildren, Chris (Jenny) Matherly of Abingdon, VA, Renee (Darwin) Stallard of Lebanon, Richard Jr. (Kim) Sutherland of NC, six great-grandchildren, Victor and Todge Matherly of Abingdon, Austin Stallard of Lebanon, Shane Stallard of TN, Allisa and Chloe Sutherland of NC, a sister, Geneva Owens of Honaker, VA, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with Jeff Tiller officiating. Burial will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens, Lebanon. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23 at the funeral home where a song service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
