Haysi, VA – Fannie Raines Wood, age 89, departed this life to be with the Lord on July 1, 2017. Mrs. Wood was a lifelong resident of the Haysi Virginia area and was a member of the Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a friend of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Wood, her son Billy Joe Wood, daughter, Mary Turner, granddaughter, Stefanie Turner, and her parents, Jason and Martha Owens Raines.
She is survived by her children Charles “Butch” (Janice) Wood of Haysi, Debbie (George) Owens of Birchleaf, VA, and Terry (Sue) Woods of Birchleaf, sisters, Faye Wampler of Haysi, Georgia Veggian of Roseville, MI, and brothers, Don Raines of Clintwood, VA and Jerry Raines of Florence, SC, her grandchildren, Kevin Wood, Greg Wood, Michelle Owens, Jennifer Owens, Chris Wood, Traci Ramey, Amy Anderson, Wendy Deel, Genny Kiser, and great grandchildren, Jaren Owens, Garrett Owens, Caden Owens, Blake Branham, Kylie Kiser, Jase Kiser, Brody Deel, Kenzie Ramey, Connor Ramey, Tanner Owens, and Tyler Owens. The family would like to give a special thanks to caregiver “Patricia Teresa Maine” for the loving care she gave to our mother.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Haysi Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. to honor the life of Mrs. Wood with Danny Sluss and Johnny Turner officiating. Burial and graveside service will follow at the Wood Family Cemetery on Wildcat Ridge and The Lake Road, Clintwood. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
