Obituary for Madge Owens

Madge  Owens
Clintwood, VA – Madge Owens, age 78, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Heritage Hall in Clintwood, VA. Born in Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Billy Smith and Lexie Mitchum. She attended Coleman’s Chapel and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Amy Fuller and a sister Donnie.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Blackburn of Bristol, TN, Tim Matney of Logan, WV, and Jim and Jill Matney of Moultrie, GA,; two daughters, Barb and Marty Turner, Haysi, VA and Sandy and Jack Duty of Christiansburg, VA; three brothers, Johnny Mitchum, Eddie Dean Mitchum and Sammy Mitchum; four sisters, Nancy Sargent, Betty Mitchum, Mary Dotson and Debbie Duty; twelve grandchildren, Christy McRay, Heather Blackburn, Tina Hays, Tracie Sykes, Kim Ward, Amanda Musick, Jody Matney, Chris Matney, Matt Matney, William Matney, Sarah Matney and Henry Matney; eleven great grandchildren, Cash McRay, Isaiah Blackburn, Tanee McCowan, Ki Ward, Evan Sykes, Yasmine Sykes, Ramie Sykes, Elijah Musick, Cheyanne Musick, Gunner Matney and Miley Matney.
Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Haysi Funeral Home with Darrell Thacker officiating. Burial will follow in the Colley Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday. Online condolences may be made at www.haysifuneral.com
