Bee, VA- Rita Jo Powers, age 65, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017. Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Stevens and late Jean Edwards Rasnake, and grandparents who adopted her, the late Arthur and Margie Edwards. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Rasnake.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Powers, two sons, Timothy Ray (Jennifer) Powers of Bailey, NC and Larry Leon Powers of Bee, a daughter, Tracy Lila Whitt of Bailey, NC, two brothers, Johnny (Alicia) Rasnake and Ralph Rasnake both of Florida, two grandchildren, Aiden and Tyler Powers and two adopted brothers, Allen Edwards and Mack Edwards.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elder Garnell Gilbert and Elder Jim Duty officiating. Burial will follow in O’Quinn Cemetery, Bee,VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
