Clinchco, VA- Orphegene Stanley Stevens, age 90 passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at her home. Born March 19, 1927 in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Lovell and Nona Stanley. She was a homemaker and member of Sandlick Primitive Baptist Church for 43 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roby Stevens, brothers, Orgie Stanley and Raymond Stanley, a sister, Delphine Honaker, 4 half-sisters and 4 half-brothers.
Survivors include her sons, Larry (Lisa) Stevens of Lancaster, OH and Jessie Stevens of Clinchco, daughters, Barbara (Roger) Fuller of Clinchco and Betty Goad of Cloverdale, VA, four grandsons, James Fuller, Danny Austin, Eric Austin and Adam Stevens, three granddaughters, Jennifer Mayo, Melinda Irvin and Alicia Robson and nine great-grandchildren all whom loved her dearly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2017 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Roger Fuller, Jimmy Counts, Noah Kim Edwards and Corbin Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in Roby Stevens Cemetery, Clinchco, VA. Pallbearers will be James Fuller, Danny and Eric Austin, Adam Stevens, Ed Mayo, Frank Ervin and Brent Robson. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
