LEONARD EDWARDS
Vansant, VA- Leonard Edwards, age 89 of Airport Road, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Tivis and Barbara Colley Edwards. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was last employed for a steel company as a crane operator. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Bea Edwards, brothers, James Ayers, Walter “Burns” and Thomas and sisters Geneva and Lillian.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Edwards Boyd of Vansant, two sons, Terry (Sharon) Edwards of Daland, FL and Ken Edwards of Hazel Park, MI, grandchildren, Courtney Edwards of Orlando, FL, Briana (Brandon) Hackney of Home Creek, Jessa Boyd of Vansant, Kari Boyd of Blacksburg and Andrew Edwards of Warren, MI, a great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Hackney of Home Creek, a brother, Edgar (Ethel) Edwards of Honaker, sisters, Barbara Brock of TN, Joan Counts of Sterling Heights, MI, Lena Edwards of Clintwood and Shirley Edwards of Ferndale, MI.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m.Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Haysi Funeral Home. Burial will follow at A.J. Edwards Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends can call after 1:00 p.m. Thursday prior to funeral service.
