Obituary for Forster Norman "Norm" Messer

Forster Norman "Norm"  Messer
Haysi, VA- Forster Norman “Norm” Messer, age 72, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN. Born November 16, 1945 in Kentucky, he was a son of the late Oples Messer and Margaret Bays Vettese. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Deacon at Big Prater Baptist Church. He loved singing in the church choir and was a substitute Sunday School teacher. He loved to make beef jerky. He retired from Verizon Telephone Company after 33 years as a Central Office Technician. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Oples Messer Jr. and two sisters, Margaret Montgomery and Teresa Baker.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Patsy “Punkin” Deel Messer, a son, Michael Scott Messer and wife Roxanna, a daughter, Jennifer Beth Messer and grandsons, Ryan Gabriel Messer and Colton Reed Messer, two brothers, Tony Vettese and wife Lil of Homasassa, FL and Vince Vettese and Deborah of West Bloomfield, MI and a sister, Mary Ann Vetttese of MI.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 9, 2018 at Haysi Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Lindsay officiating. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a Singspiration at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
