JAMES STEVE BOYD
Vansant, VA- James Steve Boyd, age 56 of Hackney Branch, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at his home. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late James Holly and Shirley Hackney Boyd. He was last employed as a long haul truck driver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Author Boyd, sisters, Fannie Pruitt and Maple Hagy and mother-in-law, Ruby Barton.
Survivors include wife, Rhonda Boyd, a son Aaron Barton of the home, a daughter, LaShawana Boyd of Bristol, two grandchildren, Adarianna and special grandson, John Kenneth “Hoss” Lawson, sisters, Mattie L. Boyd of Harmon, Rebecca L. (Jimmy) Boyd of Haysi, Josephine (Clyde) Hibbits of Grundy, Avanell Boardwine of Leemaster and Lucy Thomas of NC, a brother, Ken (Edna) Boyd of Grundy, special nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Victoria Lawson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Haysi Funeral Home with Denver Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Ketron Memorial Cemetery, Lebanon, VA. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Owens, Roger Barton, Harley Colley, Johnathan Boyd, Josh Boyd and Jason Barton. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Williamson, Victoria Lawson, Jacob Hess and Dalton Barton.
