Haysi, VA- James “Claude” Owens, age 73, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Clarence and Myrtle Fuller Owens. He was retired from General Motors and was a member of Breaks Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jack and Terry Owens and sisters, Faye Orr and Gaye Brown.
Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Owens of St. Clair Shores, MI, step-daughters, Sharon Simmons of Ortinville, MI and Linda (Paul) Rudys of Canada, companion and best friend, Sue Stalker of Elkhorn City, KY, a brother, Robert Owens of Warren, MI a sister, Jenny Justus of Hurley, VA and a grandson, Jacob Stanek.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Mullins Cemetery, Breaks, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Anyone wishing to follow in procession can be at Breaks Church of Christ at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Haysi Funeral Home with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. with Lonnie Fuller officiating. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 at Breaks Church of Christ with Clint Stewart officiating.
