Birchleaf, VA – Fairy Bowman, age 80 of Frying Pan Road, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Dickenson Community Hospital in Clintwood, VA. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Hargadeen and Iowa Edwards Bowman. He was of the Baptist faith and last employed at a saw mill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Berta Bowman, son, Richard Bowman, grandson, Christopher Bowman, and sisters, Lucy Isenhour, Clara Miller, and Betty Chapmen.
Survivors include a son, Rufus (Jennifer) Bowman of Birchleaf, brothers, Ike (Renita) Bowman of Birchleaf, Raymond Bowman and Larry (Elizabeth) Bowman both of Clintwood, sisters, Jenny Bowman, Mamie (Robert) Dunford, and Carrie Branham all of NC, special nephews, Brian and Byron, special nieces, Melanie and Ashley, uncle, Gladwell “Glad” Bowman of Birchleaf, several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Fred Branham and Clinton Barton.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Haysi Funeral Home with Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Bowman Cemetery on Frying Pan, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
