Haysi, VA – Eddie Ruth Wolford, age 67, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Buchanan General Hospital. Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late George and Ida Mae Lester. She was a homemaker and member of Sulpher Springs Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Wolford, a sister, Florence Smith, and a special nephew, Eddie Paul Wolford.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia (Jimmy) Blankenship of Haysi, Laken Lester and boyfriend, Justin, Beverly Blankenship and fiancé Jon Boyd, and Cody Blankenship and girlfriend Allison, great-grandchild, Hailee Lester, a brother, Herman Lester of Grundy, and six sisters, Edna Lester of Grundy, Bertie (Wayne) Hale of Council, VA, Ida Lester McClanahan of Bristol and Edith (Wes) Hopkins both of Bristol, TN, and Jeannie (Dale) Chambers of Shawnee, OK.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Sulpher Springs Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Brian Moore, Larry Mounts, Shawn Dotson, Jimmy Lee Smith, and Jeff Dotson officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackburn Cemetery, Hurley, VA. Pallbearers will be Chris Charles, Patrick Charles, Chris Lester, Jeffery Lester, Brian Hale, Cody Blankenship, Justin McClanahan, and Jon Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. J.G. Patel, Freda Powers, Dr. Michael Bidros, Dr. Paul Kramer, and the staff of Buchanan General Hospital.
