Haysi, VA- Joey Michael O’Quinn, age 54 of Arrington Drive, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Dickenson Community Hospital in Clintwood, VA. Born in Warren, MI, he was a son of the late Eugene and Peggy Joyce Chapman O’Quinn. He was a 1982 Haysi High School graduate and was employed as Commissary Mgr. of Keefe Commissary at Wallens Ridge State Prison. He had retired from Keen Mtn. State Prison after 26 yrs. and was a member of Emmanuel Old Regular Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Carolyn Owens.
Survivors include his wife, Patty, children, Seth O’Quinn, Jarrod (Audrea) O’Quinn and Chesnee O’Quinn and fiancé Doug Edwards, grandchildren, Hunter Edwards, Julie Edwards and Everlee O’Quinn, sisters, Glenda (Doug) Lane and Sherri (Dewayne) Stanley both of Haysi, aunts, Charlotte Rose, Fern Rose, Pattie Baber and Betty Raines, uncles, William C. Chapman and Newton (Lois) O’Quinn, father-in-law, Jerry (Doris) Owens, brother-in-law, Terry (Connie) Owens, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and his dog, Lillie.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders David O’Quinn and Eddie Newsome officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, at Arrington Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be Adam Owens, Josh Owens, Doug Lane, Wayne O’Quinn, Alex Lamkin and Kerry Hay. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to funeral service.
