I made a trip to New York in 1984 and rented a car. Since I had a couple of extra days, I drove down to my hometown of Grundy Va. to surprise and visit with relatives, which included my Uncle Buster and Aunt Belvie, and then Uncle Willie. While I was there they sent word to my mother, Fern Stiltner Keen and her husband Elmer to come over to visit. I thought I was really giving them a surprise, as I had been gone for about 16 years from VA. I really didn't know what to think at first when they showed up and introduced me to my little brother, Elmer Keen Jr.. I believe he was close to 12 at the time. He was kinda shy and quiet that day, but some years later he could talk my ear off on the phone. We had many talks for hours some times. I do wish we would have lived closer, but was not to be. He also visited with his other half sibling Charles, his half brother in Ca., who also did not get to be around him in person, but like me, was proud to know him and have him for a little brother. You will always be in my heart and I will cherish the talks we had.
