Billy “Bill” Owens
Rosedale, VA – Billy “Bill” Owens, age 80, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon, VA. Born in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Brady and Molly Owens. He was a 1957 graduate of Haysi High School, a retired equipment operator for Clinchfield Coal Company, a member of the UMWA, a member of Sandlick Presbyterian Church, and had attended Rosedale Baptist Church for the past seven years where he faithfully served and used his musical talents to serve God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Owens, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roscoe and Louisa O’quinn.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ann Owens, a son, Jeff “Lebo” (Jennifer) Owens of Abingdon, VA, two daughters, Pam (Bodie) Fultz of Hudson, NC and Jennifer (Scott) Honaker of Rosedale, VA, three grandchildren; Andrew Fultz, Dalton Honaker, and Bethany Fultz, and a sister, Rita Yates of Georgia.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Haysi Funeral Home with Jeff Kinder and David Cummings officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Owens Family Cemetery, Rakes Ridge. Pallbearers will be Scott Honaker, Bodie Fultz, Benny Church, Dalton Honaker, Andy Mullins, Shawn Coppins, Tom O’quinn, and Andrew Fultz. Honorary pallbearers will be brothers-in-law, Harry Kinder, Harliss Breeding, and Jerry Hale.
