Obituary for Bob Raines

Bob  Raines
Vansant, VA- Bob Raines, age 65 of Sanford Drive, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy, VA. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Henry and Ivalee Brewer Raines. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, was a coal miner and was of the Methodist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rondal Owens, sisters, Joyce Roberts and Geneva Raines, a brother-in-law, Don Roberts and a nephew, David Raines.
Survivors include his wife, Susan, three sons, Robert Henry (Traci) Raines, Russell Aaron (Selina) Raines and John Thomas Prater Raines all of Vansant, a daughter, Bonnie Kathleen (Greg) Barnett of Slate Creek, grandchildren, Tommy Barnett, Brandon Barnett, Zachary Aaron Raines, Dylan Raines, Nicholas Raines, Katelyn Raines, Jimmy Street, Sarah Raines, Jacob Raines and a honorary grandchild, Dominic Yates, two brothers, Jeryl (Jean) Raines of Birchleaf and Walter (Maxine) Owens of Wytheville, three sisters, Erma (Ferrel) Stiltner of San Francisco, CA, Edith (Rick) Owens of Vansant and Audrey (Rick) Arrington of Birchleaf, several nieces and nephews and great niecs and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Haysi Funeral Home with Darrell Thacker and Bill Neeley officiating, Burial will follow in O’quinn Deel Cemetery, Haysi, VA. American Legion Post #164 will conduct Military graveside rites.The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, at the funeral home with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
