JOHN MICHAEL “MIKE” SIMPSON SR.
Clinchco, VA- John Michael “Mike” Simpson Sr., age 54 of Road Branch, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. Born in Norfolk, he was a son of the late John Wesley and Opal Lyall Simpson. He served in the U.S. Navy and was last employed as a truck driver for Southwest Oil Company and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kim Simpson and his grandparents.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Brenda, three children, John Michael (Tiffany) Simpson Jr. of Clinchco, David Allen Simpson and Daniel Seth Simpson both of Danville, three grandchildren, Dalton, Aiden and Alyssa, two sisters, Lois Simpson of Clinchco and Sherri Laro of NC, a brother, Greg Simpson of Louisiana, a special niece, Saundra Hamilton, a special aunt, Mildred Stanley, a special cousin, Kimberly Stanley and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Haysi Funeral Home with Joey Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in Turner Family Cemetery, Clinchco, VA. Military graveside rites will be conducted. Pallbearers will be Michael Simpson, J.R. Hamilton, Dave Stanley, Greg Simpson, Will Fields and Josh Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be David Simpson, Daniel Simpson, Derek McCowan, Dekota McCowan, Danny Fuller and Dwight Fuller.The family will receive friends after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday prior to funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
