Obituary for Verna Allene Vandyke (Coleman)

Verna Allene  Vandyke (Coleman)
Haysi, VA- Verna Allene Vandyke, age 89 of Kiser Street, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at her home. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late H. Harlis and Lilly Walcie Boyd Coleman. She was a retired cook from Haysi High School where she had worked for 27 years and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Vandyke, sisters, Orba Rush, Bea Edwards and Alta Elswick and brothers, Arthur, Thomas, Kelver and Clovis Coleman.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane V. Moore of Haysi, a son, Dennis (Mary) Vandyke of Clintwood, a grandson, Scott (Gabby) Moore of Coeburn, a great-granddaughter, Grace Moore, 6 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great grandchildren, two brothers, Walter (Ella) Coleman and Bill (Evelyn) Coleman both of Haysi.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Haysi Funeral Home with Darrell Thacker officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 17 at H.H. Coleman Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.The family will receive friends after 5:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to funeral service at 6:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
