Haysi, VA – Danny Ray Boyd, age 59, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at his home. He was born July 21, 1956 in Dickenson County. He was a hull tech in the U.S. Navy and served in Desert Storm. Danny was a member of the VFW of Haysi and attended Yates Chapel Church. He was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Jean Deel and Thelma Gay Boyd.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Boyd, a daughter, Lindsey Boyd Scheppard and husband Tim of Pulaski, a son, Jonathan (Courtney) Boyd of Haysi, granddaughters, Izabella Grace Boyd and Claire Rayna Boyd both of Haysi, his father, Clyde Boyd of Haysi, his mother, Lorene Boyd (Larry Matney) of Haysi, sisters, Alene Deel and Loretta (Bill) Garrett both of Haysi and Bernette (Randy) Deel of Clintwood.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with Gary Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in Boyd Family Cemetery, Haysi, VA. DAV Chapter 31 Honor Guard will perform military rites. Pallbearers will be Grant and Travis Garrett, Scott and Jason Deel, Tim Scheppard, Donnie and Daniel Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Owens, Cody and Jacob Fletcher, Ryan Clevinger and Zachary Owens.
