Haysi, VA- Darrell Gray Silcox, age 73, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at his home. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Milton and Nellie Waddell Silcox. He was a school teacher for 30 years, 1 year at Clintwood High School and 29 years at Haysi High School. He was a member of Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, June Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Hill Silcox, a daughter, Janet (Paul) Cantrell of Midlothian, a son, Daniel (Michelle) Silcox of Glen Allen, three grandchildren, Scott Powers, Brittany Powers and Alexandra Cookson, a brother, Jack Silcox of Chucky, TN and father-in-law, Oliver Hill of Haysi.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church with Danny Sluss and Allen Viers officiating. Burial will follow in Bartley-Hill Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be Chris Owens, David Owens, Gavin Counts, Brent Wallace, Bill Rose, Mike Mullins, Matthew Mullins, Carlos Rose, Jim Marshall and George Michael Wallace. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Splashdam Church.
