Haysi, VA - Shelby Jean Mullins, age 76, of Allen Branch Road, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. Born in Dickenson County she was a daughter of the late George L. and Melster Mullins Sweeney. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Fashion Freewill Baptist Church, Elkhorn City, KY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Sweeney; sisters, Gladys Mullins, Mary Colley and Bonnie Deel and a son, David C. Mullins.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Mullins; her children and grandchildren, Ronnie Mullins, Beverly J. Mullins, Richard Lee (Lee) Mullins and Levi Travis (Sabrina) Mullins, Sheila Stanley all of Haysi, VA, Ryan (Mycah) Mullins of Grundy, VA, Vicki Mullins and Michelle Caldwell both of Jackson, KY, Joshua K. Mullins of Chicago, IL, Jeremy (Stephanie) Elkins of Virgie, KY, and Priscella Stanley of Dante, VA; great grandchildren, Skylar Rain Elkins, Keyon’dre Caldwell, Riverr Elkins, Ryanna Mullins, Sophie Mullins, Callie Elkins, Myla Mullins, Hunter Hill, Carson Wallace, Kallie Wallace, and Elijah Clifton; and a brother, Arthur (Melster) Sweeney of Haysi, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with Benny Hopkins and Ralph Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the Mullins Sweeney Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Mullins, Ryan Mullins, Jeremy Elkins, Don Fleming, Arthur Hall and Creighton Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Levi Mullins, Joshua Mullins, Roger Hall, Ed Hall and Richard Mullins. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to a service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
