EDITH HAMMONS
Clinchco, VA- Edith Hammons, age 83 of Nealy Ridge, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, VA. She was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Vallie Edwards Counts. She was co-owner and operator of Hammons Grocery and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Anderson and brothers, Maloy and Walter Counts.
Survivors include her husband, William Hammons, a son, Benny Hammons of Clinchco, three daughters, Brenda Anderson (Larry French) of Haysi, Linda (Garnie) Sykes of Bee and Donna Wallace of Grundy, two grandchildren, Shane Sykes and Jordan Anderson, 2 great-grandchildren, Hannah and Kerri Rasnake and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2016 at Haysi Funeral Home with Willard Owens. Burial will follow in Nathan Edwards Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
