Ceredo, WV- David Hay, age 84, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at a VA Medical Foster Home in Ceredo, WV. He was a son of the late Italy Hay and Theresa Ella Robinson Hay Ray. He was a former resident of Haysi, VA, an U.S. Army Veteran, a retired truck driver, member of Dickenson First Presbyterian Church in Haysi, and a founding member and Post Commander for many years of the Onsby Rose Post of Haysi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Hay, a brother, Daniel Hay, step-brother, Farley Ray, and a step-sister, Glenna Patton.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (Anita) Hay of Huntington, WV and Warren (Katrina) Hay of Las Vegas, NV, grandchildren, Rebecca (Victor) Lahnovych of St. Mary, PA, Abigail Hay of Befort, SC, Joseph (Amanda Furr) Hay of Huntington, Audrey (Hunter) Arthaud of Knoxville, TN, Olivia (John) Marrow of Corvallis, OR and David Hay of Huntington, great-grandchildren, Nikolia Lahnovych, Luka Lahnovych, Roman Lahnovych, Kaylee Furr, and Jayden Furr, and step-brothers, Wayne (Barbara) Ray of Lancaster, KY and Doran (Donna) Ray of Durand, MI.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 at Dickenson First Presbyterian Church in Haysi with Pastor Wayne Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson Cemetery, Birchleaf, VA. Dickenson County Honor Guard and VA Army National Guard Honor Team will conduct graveside military rites. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 12:00 noon prior to the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
