WAYNE K. LOWE
Vansant, VA- Wayne K. Lowe, age 85 of Lovers Gap, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Dale and Martha Willis Lowe. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was owner and operator of Service Furniture and Appliance Co. in Grundy, VA. He was a member of Little Prater Church of Christ and Sandy Valley Masonic Lodge #17 and VFW John Ratliff Post 164. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Glade Wood and brothers, Rex, Gene and Bill Lowe. He was the last member of his generation.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margie, a son, Danny R. (Peggy) Lowe of Vansant and a daughter, Rebecca (Randy) Miller of Cedar Bluff, a granddaughter, Brittney (Isaac) Hylton, a great-granddaughter, Kailee Grace Hylton and a very special cousin that was raised as a sister, Leneda Farmer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Little Prater Church of Christ with Junior Deel, Gerald Vanover, and John Searle officiating. Burial will follow in Rebecca Willis Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be men of Little Prater Church and honorary pallbearers will be Dr. J.P. Sutherland Jr., Dr. Gerald Blackwell, Herald Shortridge and Curlee C. Hugh. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the church with an evening service at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
