I met Roy in elementary school at Sandlick, we were in a play with Carter Branham. The play was Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer I was Becky Thatcher and Roy and Carter were Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer--in one of the scenes I had to kiss them on the cheek I think I was in 4th or 5th grade--Roy always teased me about that from then on and he never let me forget it...always a jokester. We moved to Idaho in 1973 so I lost touch with all my Sandlick and Haysi friends. I have great memories of Roy Baker and I'll keep his family in my prayers during this time. Rest In Peace Roy-- May God bless you all. "Terry Mullins"
Roy was a true friend he was a very giving person. Roy was a person Whom you could depend on , a very true and honest person whom will be truly missed by all who knew him. we love you Roy.
Roy was my uncle , my mom Shirley was his sister. Roy was my uncle but more a big brother to me . He always came over to see us when we would come down from Michigan . He was always a big man with even bigger heart. I remember riding around in his pickup and just talking about each other's lives . I will always cherish those talks . He would take me and my cousins to see the horse shows that would come to town . Then we would drive home with the radio turned up and sing to the top of our lungs! Those are memories I will always have to remember him by . Mom will be so happy to see you ! Love you Roy!
Roy was my uncle, my mom Shirley's brother, I know she will welcome him with open arms as she has been in Heaven for 6 yrs now...
I just wanted to share that my fondest memories of Roy was putting a bunch of us cousins(his nieces & nephews)in the back of his pick up & riding us around fast enough to scare us but slow enough to keep us safe! I remember his teasing, his strength, his love of animals & sweets but most of all his big heart/ he always came out to visit us when we were in from Michigan & his laugh with smiling eyes. Love you Roy, say hi to mom for us xoxoxoxo
